Design tools worth paying for

Some of the links below are affiliate links. If you sign up through one, Responsive Hive may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. We only list things we actually pay for and use.

We try a lot of tools and quietly cancel most of them. These are the few that have earned a permanent place in how we work.

The short list

  • Figma

Where almost all of our design happens, from first layout to handing files over. The shared canvas is what makes working with clients at a distance bearable.

  • Webflow

When a project needs the client to manage content themselves, this is usually where we land. It keeps the markup reasonable while giving them a safe place to edit.

  • Framer

Useful for quick, interactive prototypes when a static mock-up is not enough to settle a decision. We reach for it less often, but it pays for itself when we do.

That is the whole list. If a tool is not here, it is because we did not find it worth the monthly line on the invoice.
